MaREI - Business Ideas for a Resilient and Sustainable Future

There has never been such an urgency in confronting the global challenges we face as a society. The world around us is changing, with huge implications for business strategy and value creation, requiring a new era of innovation set against a stressed global economy.

Identifying innovative ideas and people from across the Island of Ireland and supporting their development is a key requirement for a Sustainable Future. Today MaREI and partners are launching a programme of online events to run between March 25th and June 3rd 2021 to encourage those interested in Sustainable Entrepreneurship to take some action towards our Sustainable Future.

Events kick off on March 25th with an introductory webinar on Sustainability, with a particular focus on International Start Up Accelerator programmes focused on Energy, Climate, Digital Health, Materials, Blue Economy, Agtech and Bioeconomy. Get a sense of the types of technologies and solutions that are making progress, what opportunities are emerging, trends into the future and how your idea or research might find an attractive application.

Breandán Goss, Tangent in Trinity College Dublin will talk about the EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology programmes he manages in Climate, Digital Health and Raw Materials.

Ratna Nelapati, ESB International will talk about innovation opportunities and the Global Energy Accelerator Free Electrons Program.

Antoine Pajot and Niamh Collins from University College Dublin will introduce the AgTech Innovation Centre which is currently in planning.

Finally, Donald Grant of the Ocean Startup Project will give us some insight into the great work being done in Canada to promote Blue Economy Start Ups through Creative Destruction Lab Oceans Accelerator and other innovative programmes.

We will also launch our Start Up Competition which is open to early stage, aspiring Entrepreneurs from across the Island of Ireland. Nine substantial cash prizes will be up for grabs across three categories including; Post Graduate Students, PhD Students, Post Doc Researchers and Early Stage Start Ups.
