TUS Athlone
The Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Athlone industry programmes/technology transfer office (TTO) is the meeting point between our researchers and client companies through our supports in research proposal development, funding applications and commercialisation. Our objective is to address company concerns in relation to accessing IP in a practical and time-effective manner, in line with funding guidelines and the national IP protocol.
TUS's strategy is to be a partner of choice for enterprise - focusing our research, innovation and enterprise support activities on addressing the needs of regional and national industry. We do this by proactively partnering with start-ups and established companies through industry-driven, collaborative research projects across our core areas of research expertise. These include:
- Materials science and polymer technology applied to many areas including medical devices.
- Drug delivery and green/recycling technologies.
- Software, network management and connected digital media.
- Biosciences, including toxicology, microbiology and analytical chemistry.
Our contract industrial services centre also provides a wide range of expert knowledge support services, including polymer processing, product design, rapid prototyping and analytical testing with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
TUS Athlone campus incubator, currently supports 20 companies, 62 employees & €1.4m in collaborative research.
