ATU Galway-Mayo

The ATU Galway-Mayo operates from five campuses in Galway City, Castlebar, Letterfrack and Mountbellew. Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Mayo-Galway's integrated approach to Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) is delivered through its Research Centres and Innovation Hubs. We apply our knowledge in IP and business incubation, to link companies and Institutional expertise, and work with national and international partners. Our research centres, focusing on marine and freshwater science, medical and engineering technologies complement our established expertise in science and engineering.

Emerging areas such as Information and Communication Technologies, Tourism, Arts and Design are opening new avenues for research.

Linking with enterprise is central to ATU's Mayo-Galway's  RDI strategy: Over 60% of our post-graduate projects are co-supervised by enterprise partners. As well as fostering academic excellence, we focus strongly on achieving positive impact through our research, particularly where that delivers regional development. Recent examples include: ATU's Mayo-Galway's  pivotal role in product development for medical device companies; Informing national policy regarding fisheries management; and, Working with communities in energy sustainability.
